Will the Ice Fire Be a Good Lesson?
The Ice Fire burning high above the Colorado towns of Silverton and Ophir (reasonable close to Telluride) could offer a good lesson and test.
What test you might ask. I was always told that large high altitude fires were always unlikely because of the lack of Oxygen in the air. This fire is at about 11,000 so it will test the theory. In 3 days it has grown to 500 acres, so not too big. The terrain is steep and hard to fire fight.
How about the lesson? The lesson is that no matter the time of the season, if conditions are dry and there is fire danger under no circumstances can you relax restrictions. We assume this was a man made fire.
