Update on New Telluride Medical Center

Update on the new Telluride Medical Center and additional development zoning from the Telluride Daily Planet.

Its still a question on how this will happen on the twenty acre site, just three miles outside of the town of Telluride in what's referred to as Society Turn.  The Developer, Genesee Properties out of Wyoming, will grant land for a New Medical Center and wastewater plant enhancements, but need a zoning amendment to build a hotel, affordable housing and other commercial property.

These decisions are difficult.  After failed attempts on the old RV lot in the town of Telluride and adjacent to the parking garage in Mountain Village, the Medical Center has not secured a new spot.  And the current facility is just too small for our increasing population and resort growth especially as the average age of residents of all kinds continues to increase..  But the tradeoff is increased density at the first entrance to the immediate region and increased traffic.  A project like this changes the drive in approach to Telluride.
