The Telluride 2022-23 Ski Season Is Over.

That's a wrap.  Not until Thanksgiving will we see the lifts spin again at the Telluride Ski Resort.  It was a fun and challenging season, so lets take a look back.

What went right?  The new Lift 9/Plunge Lift finally opened.  The High-Speed Quad Chair takes skiers from the top to the bottom of the pod in about 6 minutes. Prior to its opening, we were allowed to ski that terrain and it was glorious.  The snow quality was as good as we have seen is a long time.  Other than that it was pretty much a status quo season of skiing and snowboarding.

What went wrong?  Honestly, not much.  The Telluride Ski and Golf Company did all they could to manage building that ski lift in challenging weather and employment and supply challenges.  The Telluride Ski Patrol worked as hard as ever to open terrain due to the endless wind loaded conditions.  In 28 seasons I have never seen it so windy and gloomy for an entire ski season.  We saw many lift closures, but mostly those were due to dangerous windy conditions.

So we look ahead to the future.  It will be a miracle if the Giuseppe's Restaurant gets built this summer.  I think the snowpack is just too much and the melt off will make it challenging to work.  Not much else has been announced for improvements and that's OK, too.  

For Telluride Ski and Golf?  It's now off to breaking down the Winter Ski Operations and hoping somehow that the snow will melt fast enough to get the Golf Course open on Memorial Day Weekend, and prep for the bike park and canopy tour.  And weddings too.
