The New York Times Is Back in Telluride
The New York Times is back in town for the weekend. So what did they say?
They did a great job on a few things. They really did understand the commanding sense of community that Telluride offers, locals, second homeowners and tourists. The Times also raved about the scenery and the Victorians. It looks like that had some fun, all the while, it being a relaxing trip.
But they missed two things in my opinion. One is big and one is small.
Small? Well that's Telluride Town Park. Its the greatest town park in North America and the heartbeat of Telluride. Softball games, kids fishing, the Town Park Stage, Shakespeare in the Park, and just the best place to chill.
What else did the miss. The Festivals. I understand that they did not want to have this article to be dominated by a one weekend event, no matter the fun, like Telluride Blues and Brews, The Telluride Film Festival and Telluride Bluegrass, but we have so much more in our Festival scene.
Jazz at 1/3 the size of the other festivals. Chamber Music to a few hundred folks? Yoga Festival. Two ridiculously good wine and food festivals. Balloon Festival? The Telluride Baseball Festival?
Just about every weekend in the Summer, there is some type of festival to enjoy. And that is special.
So next time? Call Telluride Teddy for advice on all things Telluride for your next vacation. You wont be disappointed by a local, that has lived here full time since 1996.
