The Colorado Avalanche Alumni Game
The Colorado Avalanche Alumni Team came to Telluride to mix in with a bunch of locals, high school players and celebrities and guess what? I got to play in it. It was such a treat to skate with 13 ex NHL Players and be watched by about 500 spectators.
I was very lucky. My defense partner? John Michael Liles, who has transitioned from NHL defenseman to a fantastic real estate broker at LIV Sotheby's International Realty, and based in Vail, Colorado. In net? None other than former first round pick Peter Budaj. And our best forward? Pierre Turgeon. He's one of the best hockey players of all time, who is not yet enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The other team was bolstered by Milan Hejduk, and wow he looked like he could still play in the show.
But the best quote of the day came from Country Music Star Dierks Bentley, who also played in the game. "This was more fun than playing Red Rocks."
Thank you to the Telluride Youth Lizard Head Hockey Club for making the game happen, and creating an experience like no other.
Just another reason why I love Telluride, Colorado!
