Thats a Wrap- Telluride Blues and Brews Festival
The 2023 Telluride Blues and Brews Festival is over. Year 29 was a spectacular show, and just a phenomenal way for Telluride, Colorado to close out its Major Festival Season.
As you can see from these photos, the scenery is a big part of why The Telluride Blues and Brews Festival is so special. But you cannot do a festival on scenery alone. And SBG Productions just delivers on creating an environment of world class music, in a venue that is unmatched.
What were my highlights? There were so many. I'll just pick a few from each day. On Friday, just to see Bonie Raitt. At 73 years young, she played a powerful performance, and to see such a historic artist was a treat. But Telluride Blues and Brews makes sure you can see talent after the gates are closed for the night. Anders Osborne played such an old school spirited rock and roll at the Historic Sheridan Opera House for the juke joint highlight.
On Saturday, the weather was perfect, warm and sunny to warm us up after a cold and rainy Friday. And hip hop and funk by the Roots. Yes, Jimmy Fallon's Roots. They simply brought a level of talent and quality that you don't get to see very often in the Box Canyon.
Sunday, well, when you get to see gospel, and then the new Queen of Detroit Soul? Winning. But the final performance of the Revivalists and the energy for a 2 hour set? Whoa.
And there was more. Empanadas in the food area. Titos pouring cocktails. Shrimp and Oysters in VIP. The Ally Venable Band. The Rumble, bringing some New Orleans heat. The sports bar. The trippy graphics and light show over the pond on exit. A Music Maker Fundraiser dinner at the Home of Sally Puff Courtney.
And to think? This happens about 12 blocks from my home!
A special thanks to the fine folks at SBG Productions for a great 29th Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. This is Local Production at its finest, and we are lucky to have them.
So if you missed it. You need to come next year and party with 9,000 of your new besties. For real.
