Ski Magazine Readers Rank Telluride #11

The Ski Magazine Readers have spoken.  Telluride, Colorado has come in at Number 11 for this year.  There were a few surprises.  Only one Colorado Ski Resort made the Top Ten.  Aspen.  Then we followed them.

What was resonated with the voters?  Challenging and Variety of Terrain, Apres Ski, and Dining.  

What made us drop from #7 to #11?  Value and how hard it is to get here.  I can't argue with that, although by being so remote, it does keep the crowds down.

The reader's most telling comment?  The fact that you can ski right into an authentic old mining town.

My biggest surprises, other than Colorado resorts falling down the list?  Taos, New Mexico at #5.  It's a great ski hill, and so challenging.  I love it for that.  But the snow quality isn't great and there isn't a whole got going on after 4:00 pm in the resort town.  I was also surprised to see Powder Mountain at #1.  Overall, I've skied 6 of the top ten, but I've got to get moving to ski the others.  I'd like to check Powder and  Sun Valley.
