Hooray, It's Opening Day (at Cornerstone Golf Club)
May 24, 2024. Opening Day at Cornerstone Golf Club, high up on Horsefly Mesa. It's also opening day at the Telluride Golf Club, too.
What does that mean? It means fun! Well, maybe, if you have seen my swing. My day started off great with 4 straight pars until it went a little sideways for me (literally and figuratively)
The Cornerstone Club was in great condition for such and early round as leaves are fully even on the trees yet. And it was a little chilly.
But make no mistake, the Cornerstone Club could be the premier golf course on the Western Slope of Colorado. Designed by Greg Norman and originally built by the Hunt Family out of Texas. Certainly, up there with Frost Creek in Eagle and the Roaring Fork Club, north of Aspen and the Glacier Club north of Durango.
So? Lets tee it up! Whether Cornerstone or Telluride! Maybe even the Jack Nicklaus signature course, the Bridges in Montrose, or one of the best Municipal courses in the State, the mighty Conquistador down in Cortez. (The best muni is probably in Aspen!)
But make no mistake. Golf is the southwest part of Colorado is alive and well.
Cornerstone? Its Big Boy Golf, with giant approaches and widepsread views from the Grand Mesa, to Mt Sopris, to Mt Sneffels!
And for Telluride remember... The Most Beautiful Place You'll Ever Tee!
