Great Telluride Day Trip to Black Canyon
Great day trip from Telluride to Black Canyon. Never done it? Me neither. Well, after twenty three years, I figured I should take advantage of Free Public Lands Day and check out the Black Canyon of The Gunnison National Park.
Located less than 90 minutes from Telluride, and just east of Montrose, this day trip is well worth it. Great Canyon views along a rim. (Think mini Grand Canyon) You can hike to the Gunnison River. You can fish it. You can climb it. Bottom line is just enjoy this spectacular and often overlooked scenery.
Telluride Day Trip
Overall a great trip.
Maybe you have time to kill before a flight? Or just need some warmer weather. Don't think twice, just go check it out.
I even rewarded myself with lunch at the Himalayan Pun Hill restaurant on North Townsend Avenue, after. And of course some shopping after. Oh yeah. Don't forget a stop for coffee and doughnuts on the way in Colona at La Zona Colona. You won't be disappointed there!
