Controlled avalanche in Telluride. Check out the video from Brett Schrekengost that shows the triggered avalanche that occurred just east of the town of Telluride in our world famous box canyon.

Why do we do this? Its all in the name of safety for the homes below. Telluride Helitrax provides the helicopter and bombs are dropped in precise locations to set off the slide.

This only happens every handful of years. Its a sight to be seen!

And you know what is even better? That means we have a ton of snow! The ski conditions are great, at the Telluride Ski Resort, so come on out ASAP. Trust me, I was up there on Friday and Saturday enjoying the fresh eleven inches of powder that blanketed Telluride. Simply put? It was FUN
