A 48 Hour Delay

A 48 hour delay to the seasonal opening to the Telluride Ski Resort was just announced.  The new opening day is Saturday November 26th.

So we have no choice, but to wait a few extra days to hit some corduroy and take in the epic views of Mt Wilson and beyond.  The delayed opening has been caused by two reasons.  Snowmaking crews got a late start due to some water pipe installation delays.  The other is the amount of heavy machinery moving around the mountain is unique as the Telluride Ski and Golf Company concludes its effort to replace Lift 9, the Plunge Lift.

For more check out the Daily Planet story here.

It's a good thing that the town of Telluride and the region has lots of other things to do.  Go cross country skiing at Lizardhead Pass.  Go play pick up ice hockey at the Hanley Rink in Telluride Town Park.  Hike the San Miguel River Trail or others.  Watch the world go by on Colorado Avenue.  Go soak in the hot springs in Ouray.

And my annual adult beverage pilgrimage to Gorrono Ranch Restaurant on Lift 4 terrain on Thanksgiving Day (Like me here in 2020) will have to wait until 2023.

See you on the hill next Saturday!
