Update 3- Phish Approved by Telluride Town Council-

Today, the Telluride Town Council unanimously approved the Phish shows on August 9 and 10 in Telluride Town Park. Tentative showtime is 6 pm with a curfew of 11 pm.

There still needs to be a few logistics worked out between the promoter and an adjoining event as well as a final contract with the town. Rumor has it 70% of lodging is sold already, so please send me an email at Teddy@TeddyErrico.com if I can help out with the options in the region.

No on-sale ticket date has been announced, but some tickets will be available to locals.

As more information gets announced, it will be posted.

Feds give $17 million to Telluride Airport

The federal government has allocated $17 million to help complete the second phase of runway renovations at the Telluride Airport (code TEX). This money will be used to improve the runway safety areas by widening the property adjacent to the runway and adding an engineered material arresting system.

The hope is that we will soon be able to accommodate the 77 seat turbo prop aircraft right into Telluride.

Overall $58 million will be spent on the Airport overhaul.

Telluride and the New York Times

Telluride was recently featured in an article in the New York Times Travel Section, called 36 Hours in Telluride. Great mentions of restaurants, like Fat Alley, the fabulous skiing, hardscrabble town atmosphere and more. The article can be found by clicking on the link below or cutting and pasting the address in your web browser.

http://travel.nytimes.com/2010/02/28/travel/28hours.html?pagewanted=1&ref=travel

The article is a good one and very accurate, but please don’t be fooled by a comparison to Aspen, even in the seventies. They are very different. Aspen has glitz, 4 ski mountains, loads of people and car traffic. It’s what an ex-New Yorker, like myself calls the big city. Trust me I like Aspen, but if you come to Telluride expecting Aspen, you’ll be surprised at the difference. Telluride is laid back, has one terrific mountain, no crowds and a town that is easy to navigate. Real Estate prices are also 2 to 3 times (if not more) more expensive in Aspen as compared to Telluride.

Check out the article, but please stay longer than 36 hours. The writer must have been exhausted squeezing all of this in. Half of the fun of skiing in Telluride, is that it can be both exhilarating and relaxing, which is a tough combo to find on a ski trip.

Phish and Telluride- Update 2

The Phish shows at Telluride Town Park for August 9 and 10 have been approved for the local event calendar as of Noon today.

The rumored August 2 and 3 dates and on sale ticket date of March 4 are 100% false. Do not change your lodging based on this information.

One last hurdle remains, an approval by Telluride Town Council. That meeting is next Tuesday, March 9. I do know people are booking lodging at “festival rates” so if you are planning on staying at a hotel, condo or house, it might be prudent to book now. E-mail me at Teddy@TeddyErrico.com if you’d like assistance in finding a rental, or have questions on Telluride Real Estate. Thanks.

Phish and Telluride- Update 1

On www.Phish.com it was announced yesterday that the dates for the monumental Telluride Town Park shows were changed to August 2 and 3 and tickets would go sale March 4.

The town of Telluride is not aware of this. I will be at the Event Calendar Date request hearing today and will update everyone later today. I would not make reservations on these new dates at any properties. The final step would be approval at the town council meeting next Tuesday.

Stay tuned.
