The Telluride Ski Resort will open Lifts, 4, 5, 6 and 1 on Thanksgiving Day! Great news and good job by the Telluride Ski and golf Company to get terrain open with such high levels of snow. Lift 9 opens Saturday!
Details from Vice President Jeff Proteau:
Opening Day: (November 26)
- Lifts:Both Magic Carpets; Lifts 4, 5, 6 – Not including the loop down See Forever, so access out of Lift 6 will be through lift 5, Cake Walk to Lower Boomerang. Expert Skiers only on lift 6.
- Access from the gondola. Hike to Village Bypass.
o All terrain on Lift 5 open except Gold Rush and Silver Tip trees; Henry’s, Dew Drop, and Alta will not be groomed to allow for some good powder skiing on opening day.
o Lift 6; Majority of the terrain except we’ll rope See Forever off at @ Allais Alley (Apex and Sully’s can be accessed by traverse). Woozley’s will only be partially open due to continued snowmaking on part of the trail. Important to note that access out will be through lift 5 and only expert skiing on lift 6. See Forever and Telluride Trail will not be open, so there will be no ski access to the Town of Telluride
o Terrain Park: hopefully Lower Hoot, but will depend on snowmaking (TBD)
o Additional terrain on lift 4 including Peek a Boo and Humboldt may open depending on snowfall next week.
- Facilities: Goronno: Including limited menu inside and saloon for adult beverages , Tomboy and Crazy Elk. lift 5 bathrooms. More on Culinary details to come from Stephen Roth.
Note: We will not have all of See Forever snowmaking completed on the pitch above Middle Earth by opening day so the loop will not be open. We plan to open the loop as soon as possible but do not want to compromise the man-made snow quality by opening the terrain too soon. We expect to be able to open the complete loop within a week or less of opening day.
- Chair 9will open for opening weekend only (November 28 & 29), then closed during the week. We need to open for ski compaction but cannot keep it open because all access out will be closed while we hammer snowmaking on the Telluride trail during the week. We will not have any snowmaking on the T Trail before so egress out of lift 9 will be out through lift 6 unless we complete See Forever. We’ll keep everyone posted as we continue with snowmaking and grooming through next week. Patrol only will have access out Telluride trail to Coonskin for emergency (Hauling toboggan with injured).
o It will be VERY important to inform guests that 9 is only open for a few days AND Lookout will be closed – access lift 9 through lift 6 only.

The Telluride Real Estate market continues to be very good, but we have fallen off the dollar volume pace somewhat. October 2015 saw a decrease in sales dollar volume of 35% as compared to 2014. Year to date we find ourselves off just 13% in dollar volume.
The number of transactions tell a different story. The Telluride market is actually up 5% year to date in the number of overall transactions as compared to 2014. The lower priced properties are certainly selling and creating a larger percentage of the sales and faster appreciation than some other segments. Leading the pack for October were Mountain Village condominium sales, with 6 sales at an average price of $1.1 million.
